Fanshawe College departments may request Faculty/Staff/Student pictures to be used for official college business. In order to have your FANCard ready for you upon your arrival, we ask that you submit a passport type colour photo. Please ensure the photo you upload is a full-front view of your head and shoulders as indicated by the sample pictures.
Step 1-Take Your Photo

Remember that this card will act as official identification so your photo must meet the following guidelines:
- Background should be plain white or off-white, with no other objects or people in the picture
- Student's head and shoulders should be positioned directly facing the camera
- All facial features of student should be clearly evident in the photo
- Include headpieces if worn daily for religious purposes; they should not obscure or cast shadows on the eyes or any other part of the face
- Eyeglasses can be worn if normally used (ensure no glare)
- Do not wear sunglasses, head phones, ear buds, hats etc.
- Photo must be in color
- No red eye or flash reflection and no applied filters
- Photo must be taken in the last 6 months
- Photos in .jpg format work best!
We reserve the right to refuse any photo that does not meet these guidelines.

STEP 2- Upload Your Photo

Verify that your name and your Student/Employee Number are correct and then select a photo to upload. Click “Choose File" or "Browse” to search your computer for your photo.
Once you have selected the file click the "Open" button, press the "CONTINUE TO STEP 3" button to upload your photo.
STEP 3- Edit Your Photo

If you need to, you can use this online tool to crop or resize your photo. After you have finished,
you will be able to compare your photo with a sample provided. When you are satisfied with your photo, continue to Step 4.
You may also choose to remove the file and start over with a new photo.
Step Four: Preview Your Photo

Compare the sample card photo with your uploaded photo shown in the preview.
- Click on the button that answers the following question:
Does your photo look like the given example? Yes or No
- If you selected yes, continue to the next paragraph that explains your acceptance and understanding of submitting your photo using this on-line tool. You must select the check box by clicking in the box to continue with the photo upload process.
- Click the “Continue to Step 5” button.
Step Five: Upload Your Government ID

Upload a photo of your Government ID – Driver’s license or Passport Identification Page.
Click on the “Choose File” or "Browse" button to browse for your Government ID photo. On mobile devices it will start your camera or open the file explorer app. If you’re using a computer, this will launch a dialog box in your browser. You can snap a picture with your mobile device or select the location of your file. Once you have selected the photo’s file location, select it by clicking on the “Open” button in the dialog box.
- Click the “Continue to Step 6” button to upload your photo to the system.
Step Six: Edit Your Government ID

If needed, you can use this on-line tool to rotate, crop or resize your photo. After you are finished you will be able to compare your photo with a sample on Step 7. Please edit your photo now, remove the file and start over, or if you are satisfied, click the "Continue to Step 7" button.
- Click the “Continue to Step 7” button.
Step Seven: Preview Your Government ID

Step 7 will display a sample driver’s license ID card and preview of your Government ID photo. Compare the sample Government ID photo with your uploaded Government ID photo shown. Your Government ID photo must show clear, legible information to verify your identity. This information will be deleted from the system once your photo submission is approved.
- Click on the button that answers the following question
Does your Government ID clearly show the information to verify your identity as the given example? Yes or No
- If you selected yes, continue to the next paragraph that explains your acceptance and understanding of submitting your photo using this on-line tool. You must select the check box by clicking in the box to continue with the photo upload process.
- Click the button “Finalize” button.

With a successful upload of your photo and Government ID you will be presented with a confirmation message that will show your Student or Employee Number as shown in the example below:
Thank you for submitting your photo to the FANCard Photo Upload Site. Your photo and Government ID have been successfully uploaded to our database. Your Student or Employee Number can be used to track the status of your submission from the “Check Status” page. Your Student or Employee Number is: 001234567.
Once your photo has been reviewed, you will receive an email confirming that it has been accepted or requesting a new photo to be uploaded.
